Installing Ubuntu 13.04 on Windows 8

Prerequisite- Ubuntu 13.04 iso file, usb drive or a bootable cd.

Create a bootable usb drive using this.(If you haven't done)

1. Go to BIOS setup and change boot mode to legacy, leave other things untouched.
2. Select the option to boot from external source.
3. Install Ubuntu after it loads from the usb drive.
4. Restart your computer
5. Now press Ctrl+Alt+T i.e. open the terminal window and type the following commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair
6. Open Advanced options of the boot-repair
7. Tick the option to solve windows hardcoded efi problems
8. Now let boot-repair do it's work
9. After completing boot-repair shutdown the computer
10. Open BIOS set up and change the boot mode to UEFI

**This will solve the problem and now you can run both windows and ubuntu in UEFI mode.

**This also solves the black or purple flickering problem while running ubuntu on UEFI mode.
